I received a traffic ticket. What should I do?

There are several ways to resolve a traffic citation:

  • To contest the citation: You may appear in court at the location, date and time provided on the digital citation. To access the digital citation, scan the QR code on the card issued to you by the law enforcement officer.
  • Contact the court:  Before the “Notice to Appear” date to make arrangements with the court, such as deferred disposition or taking a driving safety course.
  • Resolve by paying:  You may pay fines in full by the date provided. On the digital citation, click PAY FINE. You will be directed to Trusted Driver’s online payment portal to pay using a credit card or digital
    wallet. For other payment options, call the court.
    NOTE: If you do not see the PAY FINE button, contact the court to learn what options are available to you.

Can I contest or challenge this citation in court?

Yes, you have the right to contest or challenge a citation in court. During the court proceedings, you can present your case and provide evidence. Scan the QR code on your ticket to contact the court for specific instructions.

Are there any options, such as defensive driving, to mitigate the citation? Do I qualify?

How much is the fine for the citation(s) I received?

Click on the tab marked INCIDENT on your digital citation and you will see the Fine Total there. If there is no fee listed, please contact the court at (956) 548-7181.

Can I set up a payment plan?

Contact the court directly to discuss payment arrangements and eligibility for a payment plan.

Will this citation impact my driving record?

Yes, paying a fine associated with a traffic ticket generally results in a conviction on your state driving record unless you are granted a dismissal through a safety course or deferred disposition.

What happens if I ignore the citation?

Failure to resolve your citation by the “Notice to Appear” date may result in additional fines, a warrant for your arrest, and/or the suspension of your driver’s license.

About the QR Code

I received a card with a QR code. What should I do with it?

Scan the QR card with your smartphone camera. You will be prompted to enter the citation number, your name, and date of birth exactly as they appear on your driver’s license to view your digital ticket.

How can I obtain a copy of the citation?

Click on E-TICKET within the portal. In the top right-hand corner, there is a download icon (arrow pointing down) to save or print a copy.
